Fraud and security analyst Richard Kumadoe has described how the Police handled the Islamic Senior High School demonstration as senseless, stating that it doesn’t in any way match modern-day crowd control strategy.
Speaking on Oyerepa Breakfast Show, Richard Kumadoe stated that the police could have simply removed the woods and sticks the students used to block the road and talk to them to restore calm rather than opening fire on harmless students.
“This is senseless and criminal, it has nothing to do with 21st-century Policing, they should be prosecuted and imprisoned “he stated.
Interacting with the Ashanti Regional Chief Imam, Sheik Harun Mumin on the same show, he called on parents to be calm and pleaded for the restoration of the interdicted officers including the deputy Ashanti Regional Police Commander, DCOP Kwesi Akomeah Apraku.
“We will entreat every parent to be calm and stay resolute, peace has been restored. Again, I will plead with the IGP to punish the interdicted Officers but restore them their Positions,” he stated.
Meanwhile reports from the grounds this morning says calm has been restored in the School whiles teaching and learning are on course.
Background
Angry students of Islamic Senior High School in the Ashanti Region massed up on the road in protest, as they called for the construction of speed rumps on the road in front of their school to help curb the incessant knocking of students and other road users yesterday.
Reports indicate there was vehicular and human traffic on that stretch for more than an hour before the Police were called in to clear the road.
The police fired a series of gunshots and teargas in their quest to stop the protestors.
More than 30 students were injured and transported in about 6 ambulances to the hospital.
