The Upper East Region New Patriotic Party (NPP) has re-elected its Regional Chairman Lawyer Anthony Namoo.
This was after he polled 144 out of the total votes cast on the Election Day that took place at the GNATS Hall in Bolgatanga.
Anthony Namoo who is a private legal practitioner by Profession was able to sail through a toff contest after being keenly contested by both his first and second vice chairmen respectively
Ahead of the elections on Friday, many political analysts had predicted that he may not retain his seat after losing two parliamentary seats in his region as a chairman during the 2020 general elections ,saying it may affect his chances of retaining his seat.
Sharing his victory message on Oyerepa Breakfast Time hosted by Akua Asieduwaa, the re-elected chairman hinted that, there are a lot of rich people in the party whose interest is solely in sponsoring internal elections than that of general elections.
He said if the resources being displayed during the internal elections were invested in the 2020 general elections, they wouldn’t have lost their two seats in the region to the opposition NDC.
“I never knew there were rich people in the party who could pull resources to sponsor the internal elections. If these resources were invested into the 2020 general elections, we wouldn’t have seen what we are seeing today.“ He stated
