Ashanti Regional New Patriotic Party (NPP) goes to polls on Friday, May, 29, 2022 to elect its regional executives.
As a result, a committee has been instituted to run the affairs of the elections.
The Ashanti Regional Coordinating Council (RCC) has been selected as the venue for the elections despite people questioning the use of the facility as the venue.
The Chairman of the Committee who doubles as the Ashanti Regional Minister, Mr Simon Osei Mensah has stated that there is tension surrounding the incoming elections hence the use of RCC as the venue.
According to the head of the Regional Security Council, the committee settled on using the embattled venue for the elections in order to ensure strict security for the elections.
He said there will be a strict inspection of accreditation cards hence no unauthorized person would be allowed entry.
“Security personnel from the various security services would be tasked to man the various entry points at the elections grounds” he stated
