Popular broadcaster with Oyerepa TV/FM, Oduyefour Nana Asabere has intimated that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) can break the eight if Mr Allan Kawdwo Kyeremateng accepts to become Vice President Dr Mahamamud Bawumia’s running mate in 2024 polls.
The renowned journalist comment is in relation to Nana Akomea’s statement that NPP should be able to have a consensus and have the two leading candidates, thus Bawumia and Allan run together.
Speaking on Oyerepa Breakfast Show, Thursday, April 28 2022, Oduyefour opined that, although it is very cumbersome for Allan Kyeremateng to accept to be Bawumia’s running-mate, that is the only way to break the eight if indeed NPP wants to.
“It’s very difficult for Allan to become Bawumia’s running mate, but that’s the only way NPP can break the eight.” He emphatically stated.
According to him, Dr Bawumia has had all the expertise to rule a nation as well as garner a lot of votes for the party. For this reason, it will be unfair for the NPP to sideline him for Allan Kyeremateng.
“I’m an Allan sympathizer, but it will be unfair for the party to sideline Bawumia and bring on Allan. Because Bawumia has gotten all the experience as Akufo-Addo’s Vice President therefore it will be easy for him to win the election in 2024 if he’s made the flagbearer and Allan as his running mate.” Oduyefour said.
Vice President Bawumia has made all intentions clear to contest for NPP’s flagbearership ahead of Ghana’s general elections in 2024. Trade and Industry Minister Allan Kyeremateng on the other hand is keen on going for the position. The two candidates qualify and are capable of becoming the next NPP flagbearer.
Some months ago, many people said the duo should be allowed to contest each other. However, in recent days, the conversation has changed. Many political analysts believe that Dr Bawumia and Allan should be merged.
The political pundits believe that, if the two NPP giants join forces together, they will be able to win the 2024 polls despite the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) report that, their bitter rival NDC will win the polls.
