A Clinical Microbiologist has attributed the sudden increase in the number of recoveries from COVID-19 in Ghana to the high immunity of the affected and also encouraged Ghanaians not to panic though the cases will continually increase.
The member of the Kumasi Centre for Collaborative Research in medicine advised that we continue to take precautions and adhere to the social directives by the World Health Organisation (W. H. O.).
Speaking with Kojo Jantuah on O. B. S., Dr. Michael Owusu, a lecturer with the Department of Medical Laboratory Technology, K. N. U S. T., stated that corona virus exists but then, for now, the immunity of many is now helping to overcome the disease. “Those with the good immune system are really and easily recovering, ” Dr. Owusu added.
He opined that Ghana will exceed 10,000 cases and that the cases will not reduce until it gets to where it wants to get to.
The Clinical Microbiologist added, “Once there haven’t been any vaccine to cure COVID-19, people must adhere to the social directives, but then the call for the ban on social gatherings be lifted should is a non-starter.”
“Corona Virus cannot stay with you forever. It is just like catarrh, if you have strong immunity, it will definitely leave you. It will definitely increase but we should panic, ” the Medical expert told Oyerepa FM.
Dr. Owusu stated that COVID-19 isn’t a disease which will cause much harm to Ghanaians.
