On Monday, September 9, 2024, former President John Dramani Mahama officially submitted his nomination forms for the 2024 presidential election at the Electoral Commission (EC) headquarters in Accra.
The event marked a crucial milestone in his bid to return to the presidency.
A high-profile delegation from the National Democratic Congress (NDC), led by National Chairman Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, presented Mahama’s forms.
The delegation included General Secretary Fifi Kwetey, Director of Elections Omane Boamah, and other key party executives.
Asiedu Nketiah expressed concerns about the electoral process, urging the EC to ensure fairness. He highlighted the party’s concerns with the voter register but assured continued engagement with the EC to address these issues.
The submission of nomination forms by Mahama follows a similar move by New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, who filed his forms earlier in the day.
Other presidential candidates, including Dr. Hassan Ayariga (All Peoples Congress), Samuel Apea-Danquah (Yellow Ghana), George Twum Barima Adu (independent), Nana Kwame Bediako (Cheddar), and Kofi Akpaloo (Liberal Party of Ghana), also submitted their forms on the same day.
The EC will now review and verify the nomination forms, paving the way for the December 7 elections.
