The Electoral Commission (EC) has officially disqualified Philip Appiah Kubi, also known as Roman Fada, the presidential candidate of the Ghana Freedom Party (GFP), from participating in the upcoming December 7 election.
This decision came after a thorough review of the nomination forms that Roman Fada submitted last week as a replacement for the late Akua Donkor.
During a press briefing held on Tuesday, November 12, 2024, EC Chairperson Jean Mensa announced the disqualification, citing numerous errors found in Roman Fada’s nomination forms.
Despite this setback, Madam Mensa assured that there would be no changes to the balloting position, and the printing process would continue as scheduled.
In addition to the disqualification announcement, the Commission paid tribute to the late Madam Akua Donkor by observing a minute of silence in her honor.
Madam Donkor sadly passed away at the Ridge Hospital on Monday, October 28, 2024.
