A tragic accident involving three
vehicles has left two people feared dead and several others injured at Gomoa Otsew on the Winneba-Cape Coast highway in the Central Region.
The collision occurred between a Sprinter Benz Bus (GW 5064-24), a Honda Pilot 4×4 (DE 3440-13), and a Samsung Kia truck (GW 8308-21) loaded with pineapples en route from Ekumfi Nanaben to Accra.
According to Apam District Fire Service Commander, DO2 Anthony Kwesi Rhule, the Honda Pilot attempted to overtake the Kia truck but collided head-on with the oncoming Sprinter Benz Bus.
Two passengers from both cars are suspected to have passed away due to degree of injuries and multiple injured.
DO2 Rhule noted that the accident could have been avoided had the Honda Pilot driver exercised more patience while overtaking.
Emergency responders transported the injured to the Winneba Trauma and Specialist Hospital for treatment.
Efforts are being made to tow the mangled cars to allow free flow of traffic.
