“Your video makes no sense” — Ola Michael fires at Obinim over Florence’s gifted car

Media personality Ola Michael has criticised the recent comments made by Ghanaian preacher Bishop Daniel Obinim regarding the vehicle gifted to his estranged wife, gospel musician Florence Obinim, describing the pastor’s reaction as emotional rather than rational.

The criticism follows Bishop Obinim’s public remarks after Florence Obinim revealed in a media interview that she had received a brand-new vehicle as a gift. The preacher subsequently questioned the gesture and warned his wife against publicly discussing their marital issues, a development that has kept their troubled relationship in the spotlight.

Reacting in a video, Ola Michael said Bishop Obinim’s response was unnecessary and did not reflect the wisdom he claimed to possess.

“Prophet Obinim, the video you made makes absolutely no sense to me. If you said in the video that you’re a wise person who’s speaking, you’re wrong on that side. I would have agreed that you’re wise if you hadn’t recorded the video,” he said.

According to Ola Michael, there is nothing wrong with a person rewarding someone they admire, especially where there is no evidence of any improper relationship.

“You spoke out of pain, saying someone you don’t know has given your wife a car. Someone your wife is not having an affair with, someone she never prayed to for a car, but the person realised she deserved it and decided to bless her. Why should that make you angry?” he questioned.

To reinforce his point, Ola Michael recounted a story shared with him by the late gospel musician Yaw Sarpong. He explained that the veteran singer once revealed how a woman, touched by the impact of his music, gifted him money to purchase a Toyota Tundra and later added more funds when the initial amount proved insufficient.

“I remember when Yaw Sarpong was alive, we met at an event and had a conversation. He told me about a Tundra he was using that a woman had gifted him. The woman said his songs had positively impacted her life, so she invited him to her house and gave him GH¢60,000 to buy the car. When they went to purchase it, they realised the money wasn’t enough, so the woman added more, and that’s how he got the vehicle,” he narrated.

Drawing from that experience, Ola Michael argued that people often bless individuals whose work has transformed their lives and insisted Florence Obinim’s situation should not be viewed differently.

“That’s how the Lord’s work is. People notice the good things others are doing and decide to bless them. If someone gives your wife a car, you can’t criticise her. It looks like you’re hurt because someone did something you couldn’t do for your wife,” he stated.

He also challenged Bishop Obinim’s assertion that he owns several vehicles, asking why Florence Obinim had reportedly gone years without a personal car despite their long marriage.

“You claim you have a lot of cars at home and sometimes struggle to decide which one to use. Among all those cars, which one belongs to your wife? Why didn’t she have her own car? Your wife is not your enemy,” he remarked.

Ola Michael further accused the preacher of contradicting himself by publicly discussing their marriage after Florence had deliberately avoided the topic during an interview he conducted with her.

“When I invited your wife for an interview, she pleaded with me not to discuss her marriage. I respected her wishes and focused only on her personal life and music career. Yet you are the one discussing and embarrassing her in your church. After such public humiliation, do you think she would feel comfortable standing before the congregation to preach?” he asked.

His comments have added another layer to the ongoing public dispute between Bishop Daniel Obinim and Florence Obinim.
