The Kumasi Racecourse Bode Traders relocated from Kumasi Central Market are today blaming the Chief Executive Officer of Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly, Hon. Osei Assibey Antwi for the rise in Covid-19 cases in the Greater Kumasi city.
According to them, Kumasi mayor is tantamount to blame for the widespread of the plague since he has not stood firm on his decision to relocate most of the central market traders to vacant Racecourse market thereby increasingly creating congestion and this is a hindrance to social distancing.
Speaking to Oyerepa news Maame Akosua Nhyiraba, the traders claim the overcrowded Kumasi Central Market has led to the widespread of the pandemic Covid-19.
Ashanti Region has recorded 5,259 cases of Covid-19, with 4786 recoveries and…. Deaths.
For this reason, the Racecourse Traders believe that, if the vacant Racecourse Bode market is not properly well organized by the K.M.A and moved in traders to occupy empty sheds for the business center to be attractive, they will join their co- traders pressure and overcrowding at Central Market to spread of the plague.
The special Aid to the Chief Executive Officer of Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly Hon. George Opoku Amponsah in an interview on Oyerepa News lamented that, ever since the novel coronavirus came into our country, they have done all they have to do to help curb the spread of the disease.
According to him, they have done all they can do in their power but it’s up to the citizens to understand that what they are doing is for their own good. However, they have begun the second phase of the renovation of the Kejetia market and they have ordered their workers to go around and put things in order mostly traders who trade on the pavement.
