Former Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in Fomena in the Ashanti Region, AKwasi Nti Asamoah has accused the regional chairman of the party Mr. Benard Antwi Bosiako aka Wontumi of causing problems in his constituency.
In a video that went viral, some irate NPP youth were spotted painting the party office to opposition NDC’s colours and fixing posters of the former President John Mahama.
However, speaking on Oyerepa Breakfast Time, Wednesday, Akwasi alleged that Wontumi has given the polling station forms to supporters of the independence MP, Mr Asiamah, hence the move by the aggrieved youth to protest and paint the Fomena NPP’s Party office NDC colours.
“Chairman Wontumi has given the polling station forms to supporters of the independent MP. They’re teasing the executives that they have taking over NPP party in Formena. This led to the protest in the constituency”. Mr. Nti explained.
The NPP office in Formena has been repainted to its traditional colours after the former chairman was tasked by some gurus in the party to settle the issues in the party.
When asked by Nana Yaw Mensah Joel, host of the show as to why no party leader in the region has commented on Formena crisis, Mr. Nti noted that Chairman Womtumi has caged all the party leader in the Ashanti region and most of them are angry because of him (Wontumi).
According to him, they will not allow Wontumi to destroy the party in Formena.
He further disclosed that he (Wontumi) was aware of the coming of the independent candidate prior to the 2020 elections.
“The regional chairman, Bernard Antwi Bosiako has reported to the police to arrest the youth who were demonstrating and repainted part office to NDC colors, but if they dare to arrest them, the issues will escalate.” Mr. Kwasi Nti revealed.
