Rev. Isaac Owusu-Bempah, founder and leader of Glorious Word Power Ministries International, has admitted regret over his past criticisms of President John Dramani Mahama.
He revealed that Bernard Antwi Boasiako, widely known as Chairman Wontumi and the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), influenced his negative perception of Mahama.
However, Rev. Owusu-Bempah now acknowledges that Mahama’s true character contrasts sharply with the negative portrayal he once believed.
Speaking to his congregation on Sunday, February 16, 2025, Rev. Owusu-Bempah admitted his regret, stating, “I am pained because, in the past, I didn’t know him well, and we engaged in unnecessary conflicts. When I think about it now, I regret speaking against such a good man.”
He continued, “Chairman Wontumi was among those who made me dislike President Mahama.
He said a lot of negative things about him, which led me to form a wrong opinion. But now I see that Mahama is a good man, not because of politics, but because of his kind heart.”
Rev. Owusu Bempah also admitted that he and others wrongly opposed Mahama in the past.
“I didn’t know back then that he was such a good man. We spoke against him unjustly. Chairman Wontumi lied to me about him, and I believed those lies, which made me hate Mahama at the time.
“…Mahama should be allowed to continue as president even after his four-year term. When he is ready to step down, he should appoint someone else to continue his good work.”
