The President of Ghana, President Nana Akufo-Addo has emphasized the importance of empowering women and youth in achieving sustainable development and inclusive growth.
Speaking at the BADEA Prosperity Partnership: Celebrating 50 Years of Arab-Africa Co-operation and Launch of the Arab-Africa Financial Consortium in Accra, President Nana Akufo-Addo noted that women and young people are the backbone of society and their active participation is crucial for progress.
While acknowledging BADEA’s support for initiatives aimed at empowering women and youth, the President expressed concern over the significant gender gap and high unemployment in many countries.
To address this issue, President Nana Akufo-Addo called for bold and decisive action, including promoting gender equality, supporting women-owned businesses, and creating opportunities for young people to gain meaningful employment and self-employment.
“By empowering women and youth, the President believes that more resilient and prosperous societies can be built”.
President Nana Akufo-Addo also reaffirmed the commitment to African-Arab cooperation through BADEA and called on all stakeholders to work together to address future challenges and create a more prosperous, inclusive, and sustainable future for all.
The event marked the 50th anniversary of BADEA, a partnership that has been instrumental in fostering economic development and cooperation between African and Arab countries.
