The Ghana Police Service has arrested 29-year-old Augustina Adoma for allegedly stabbing her ex-boyfriend, 30-year-old Emmanuel Otabil, following a heated altercation in Sowutuom, a suburb of Accra.
According to a police statement released on July 2, 2025, the incident occurred after Adoma encountered Otabil with another woman. She reportedly reacted by seizing his Samsung mobile phone and later returning to his residence to set fire to his belongings.
Preliminary investigations reveal that the suspect visited Otabil’s residence unannounced on the morning of Thursday, June 26, 2025, at approximately 9:00 a.m. Upon discovering him with another woman, she allegedly poured water on the pair and took his phone before leaving.
Later that afternoon, around 4:00 p.m., Adoma is said to have returned to the premises while Otabil was away. Using a duplicate key, she allegedly entered his kiosk and set fire to personal items, including a mattress, carpet, blankets, and bedsheets.
When Otabil returned home and confronted her about the damage and demanded the return of his phone, a confrontation ensued. During the dispute, Adoma allegedly grabbed a knife from a nearby orange seller and stabbed Otabil in the left side of his chest.
The victim was immediately rushed to the University of Ghana Hospital, where he is currently receiving treatment and reported to be in stable condition.
Police say Adoma is in custody and assisting with investigations as they continue to gather evidence surrounding the case.
