Woman arrested for allegedly disguising as ‘ghost’ to steal late friend’s clothes

Residents of Agric in the Kwadaso Municipality of the Ashanti Region were left stunned after a woman, identified as Nana Akua, popularly known on TikTok as “Mama Gee” or “Akua Sikapa,” was arrested for allegedly breaking into the room of her late friend while dressed in a ghost-like outfit.

The incident reportedly occurred on Saturday evening when neighbours noticed unusual activity around the room of Mrs. Osei Bonsu, who died a few weeks ago.

When they checked, they allegedly found Nana Akua, believed to be in her 30s and a close associate of the deceased, dressed in a white cloth covering her head and body while attempting to remove items from the deceased’s wardrobe.

Eyewitnesses who spoke to Adom News said the suspect claimed she had been troubled at night by the spirit of her late friend.

She allegedly told them that a fetish priest had advised her to take the deceased’s clothes for a ritual in order to stop the disturbances.

According to residents, Nana Akua and the late Mrs. Osei Bonsu were members of the same group, with the deceased previously serving as leader and the suspect as her assistant.

The explanation was rejected by residents, who raised an alarm and quickly gathered at the scene.

An eyewitness, Matilda, said they initially mistook the figure for a ghost due to the white cloth covering.

“We saw someone dressed like a ghost trying to unlock the door of the late Mrs. Osei Bonsu. We were afraid at first, but we later gathered courage and recorded the person. When we did, we realised it was not a ghost. We then shouted ‘thief, thief,’ and the youth came and arrested her,” she said.

She added that the suspect later claimed she was acting on instructions from a fetish priest after being allegedly disturbed by the deceased’s spirit.

The suspect was handed over to the Kwadaso Police for further questioning.

Police have confirmed that investigations are ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident and determine whether she acted alone.

Residents are calling on authorities to conduct a thorough probe into the matter.
