Police officers at the Tinkong Police checkpoint on the Koforidua–Mamfe Highway in the Eastern Region have arrested a woman for allegedly trafficking a large quantity of suspected narcotics, believed to be cannabis.
The suspect was traveling in a Toyota Voxy commercial vehicle from Koforidua to Accra on the afternoon of Tuesday, February 3, 2026, when vigilant officers intercepted the vehicle at the checkpoint.
A team of officers, comprising three males and two females, conducted a thorough search of the vehicle and passengers’ luggage as part of routine checks. During the inspection, they discovered an Ecolac bag at the back of the vehicle containing multiple wrapped substances suspected to be narcotics, concealed under clothing.
The woman, identified as the owner of the bag, was immediately arrested. She reportedly admitted ownership of the bag and its contents, which included about 10 large wrapped parcels, and confessed to selling drugs for some time to earn a livelihood.
The seized substances have been taken to the Eastern Regional Police Headquarters to support ongoing investigations.
