Traders at Ejisu in the Ashanti Region have expressed their displeasure towards the adjustment of utility tariffs.
The Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC) has increased electricity bills by 27.15 per cent and water by 21.55 per cent which is taking effect today, September 1, 2022.
But the traders believe that the increment in utility will worsen their woes.
According to them, government is using cruel means to squeeze Ghanaians.
Speaking to Oyerepa Breakfast Show, the Ejisu traders asked the government why it will increase utility tariffs in these trying times.
They said the government should come out and explain why it has adjusted utility bills. The government should also expatiate why it has added a quota to the betterment of electricity and water supply.
“Why have you adjusted utility tariffs, have you added anything to water or electricity?” The traders enquired.
The Ejisu traders have however asked the PURC to rescind its decision and rather decrease utility tariffs.
