Residents of Sokoban in the Nhyiaeso Constituency of the Ashanti Region have expressed regret for voting for Dr Stephen Amoah, also known as Sticka, as their Member of Parliament (MP).

“Sticka has disappointed us and he shouldn’t dare come to Sokoban again because we are ready to face him if he dares come here” Aggrieved residents warned.

The Residents of Sokoban embarked on a massive demonstration against NPP, Nana Addo’s government and the Member of Parliament for Nhyiaeso Constituency Dr Stephen Amoah over the deplorable road network in the community.

The aggrieved resident on Monday, August 29, 2022, blocked the Daban-Sokoban road to prevent commuters and drivers from plying the road while expressing their disappointment in the lawmaker

Scores of road users were stranded after the Daban-Sokoban road was blocked for almost 2 hours in the morning.

The aggrieved residents speaking in an interview with AMBASSADOR TV monitored by MyNewsGh.com revealed that deplorable road network in the community has collapsed their business, making life unbearable for them.

“We will not open the road till we are done with our demonstration. Even if President Akuffo-Addo is coming we will not open the road” the aggrieved residents explained.

Background

Daban-Sokoban road was awarded to Kofi Job Construction Limited in 2017 with expectations it would be given a bitumen surface.

The Sokoban Community stretch was abandoned due to the failure of the Contractor to pay compensation to residents who will have their properties affected.

As a result, that stretch has become a major factor causing uncontrollable traffic on the road.

Meanwhile, Sub Contractor for Kofi Job Construction Limited Akwasi Yeboah speaking in an interview with Osei Kwadwo admitted the residents are yet to receive their compensation.

“We can only demolish the houses and other properties near the road when we are done paying their compensation. After the compensation, work on Sokoban stretch will be commenced” he explained.
