DopeNation, a music duo, has revealed that they played a significant role in the mixing of a lot of hit songs in Ghana, specifically Mr Drew’s 2020 hit song, “This Year.”
The group lamented the lack of recognition for creatives and their works, claiming that it is the reason people may be unaware that the group is primarily responsible for a handful of popular songs on the radio.
DopeNation stated on TV3 hosted by Berla Mundi that they have been instrumental in the release of bone-cracking songs in the latest years.
“We wrote a song two years ago and an artist came to the studio with a song, had the idea, had some scribbled lines, and was [guided to] break it this way, sing this and it [song] was produced by Willisbeatz but DopeNation happened to do the mixing and then Kaywa did the mastering at the end and the title [of the song] is This Year,” DopeNation narrated to Berla Mundi.
The group also stated that there have been times when they stopped making music for themselves and instead concentrated on helping others.
“We paused doing music for ourselves to push others and there was a time we even paused for Dancegod Lloyd and Afrobeatz were having interviews but that was DopeNation in Dancegod Llyod.”
The group of twin brothers is currently on a tour to promote their new ‘CLAP song.
