Communication expert, Mr Dennis Sarkodie Owusu has expressed concerns over the Commoditization and commercialisation of issues being it politics or whatsoever in the country.
According to him, Ghanaians and for that matter politicians have undoubtedly commoditised and commercialised all aspect of their lives in recent years.
“We’ve commoditised and commercialised every aspect of our lives.” Mr Dennis Sarkodie Owusu made the claim on Oyerepa TV’s ‘OBT Agenda’ chaired by Bismark Brown.
The Communication expert was reacting to the alleged monetisation of MMDCE’s confirmation elections in Ghana.
He admitted on the show that, politics in the country nowadays is all about money. Everyone wants to take money before voting for a particular candidate. Because people think the candidate they’re going to vote for will at the end accumulate huge sums of money so the perception has always being money.
“Everyone wants to make money before casting a vote. Everything in our lives is money. The perception of everyone nowadays is all about money.” Mr. Dennis lamented.
He declared that, to be able to attain a specific political position like the Member of Parliament in Ghana, the candidate needs to get not less than one million Ghana cedis (GHS1m).
“Let’s ask ourselves if one spends this huge sum of money on a position what do we expect the person to do, he must recover all his debts. This situation is extremely bad and is getting out of hand. It needs to be resolved as soon as possible.” Mr. Dennis said.
