The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Ashanti Ports Services Limited (APSL), Mr Isaac Afum who has won the bid of Constructing the Boankra Inland Port has expressed high hopes that the construction of the Inland Port will kickstart in August 8th 2022.
This current development was communicated in a letter signed by the CEO of the above mentioned Firm having awarded the contract to Justmoh Constructions to carry out the project.
“We refer to our discussion in respect of commencement of works for the above mentioned project. In order to forestall any further delays with the project, you are by this letter kindly requested to mobilize to site to commence the works latest by Monday 8th August 2022“ the letter stated.
In an interview with the CEO of the Ashanti Ports Services Limited, Mr Isaac Afum on the Oyerepa Breakfast Show hosted by Nana Yaw Mensah Joel to reiterate the words in the letter, Mr Afum stated that they are going to use two years to complete the project and hand it over to the government.
He further added that the project is going to employ over 7000 workers and create other informal job opportunities to others within the region and beyond .
According to him, the Project will include a COCOBOD terminal which will enable easy exportation of Cocoa in the Ashanti region to other neighbouring countries.
“We are going to use two years nonstop to complete the project. This project will create employment for 7000 people and other indirect jobs for other people within the region. Both COCOBOD and Tema Oil Refinery will get their terminals within the Port and it will enable Cocoa from the Ashanti Region to be easily exported to the other neighboring countries “ He stated
When asked whether or not the construction of the railway will hinder the operation of the Inland Port, he was very optimistic that the railway will be constructed on time for the smooth operation of the Port.
