John Dramani Mahama, the leader of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the upcoming 2024 elections, has committed to addressing the issue of land looting in Ga Adangbe.
He has highlighted that the Ga Adangbe state had initially allocated lands for specific projects such as the airport and the Supreme Court. However, if these lands are no longer being utilized for their intended purposes, it is mandated that they be returned to their rightful owners.
Mahama asserts that numerous lands acquired by the government are not being used as originally intended, leading to what he describes as looting.
He has proposed the establishment of a commission of inquiry to investigate these cases of land misappropriation and ensure that the lands are rightfully returned to the Ga Adangbe people.
“When NDC comes into power, we are going to set up a commission of enquiry on Ga Lands to make recommendations on what the government should do in respect of Ga Dangbe lands and at the same time it will also investigate looted state lands.
