Former Member of Parliament for Adansi Asokwa, KT Hammond, has issued a stern warning to aspirants in the upcoming New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential primaries, cautioning them against any attempt to break away from the party after the contest.
Speaking in an exclusive interview on Oyerepa Breakfast Time, the outspoken politician advised presidential hopefuls to be mindful of their utterances during the campaign period to preserve the unity and peace of the NPP.
“I want to sound this warning to those who will be contesting in the NPP presidential primaries: watch your tongue to avoid making comments that could hinder the peace of our party,” Mr Hammond stated.
He further warned that the party will not tolerate any member who decides to abandon the NPP after losing the primaries, stressing that such individuals will face strong resistance from party loyalists.
“We will never spare anyone who leaves the party because they have lost the presidential primaries. We will deal drastically with anyone who attempts to move out of the party like Alan Kyerematen did,” he declared.
According to the former lawmaker, the NPP has learned valuable lessons from past defections and will not allow a repeat of incidents that threaten the unity of the party ahead of the 2028 general elections.
“This time around, we are not going to sit down and watch for someone to destroy NPP; it’s not going to happen,” he emphasised.
