Hon. Yaw Buaben Asamoa is a former member of the Seventh Parliament of the Fourth Republic of Ghana, representing the Adentan Constituency in the Greater Accra Region, on the ticket of the NPP. He has today disclosed that he and some astute members left the party a long time ago.
This revelation was made known after the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) revoked the membership of four strong members of the party, including Hon. Yaw Buaben Asamoa, Nana Ohene Ntow, Hopeson Adorye, and Boniface Abubakar Saddique.
In a statement released on Monday, November 20, stating why their membership has been forfeited, it was attributed to their endorsement of an independent presidential candidate other than Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, who happens to be the party’s newly elected flagbearer.
Speaking in an exclusive interview on the Oyerepa Breakfast show with Nana Yaw Mensah Joel after the press release from the leadership of the NPP, he explained that they have made their decisions and they will stand by them to support Alan Kyeremanteng to become the next President of Ghana.
“We left the party a long time ago, and we are not going to reconsider our decision to come back to the party because we know that Alan Kyeremanteng is the only person to redeem the image of this country,” he said.
Adding to that, it is even a disgrace for the NPP to be going around with the claim that they have given them some money to return to the party.
“We are not going to stop supporting the Movement for Change, and we will not allow Alan Kyeremanteng to rescind his decision and go back to the NPP,” he added.
Saying that they are optimistic that things will go well for Alan Kyeremanteng in the 2024 elections for him to become the next President of Ghana.
“It’s Alan Kyeremanteng’s time, and don’t think that because he is an independent candidate, he cannot make it… Ghanaians will certainly vote for Alan Kyeremanteng as the next president in the 2024 elections,” he stated.
However, he reiterated that they have left the party for good and do not have any intention of coming back to it.
