The Public Relations Officer for Electricity Company of Ghana, Ashanti West Mr. Benjamin Obeng Antwi, has denied allegations of meter sales at their offices.
During an interview on the Oyerepa Breakfast Show with Nana Yaw Mensah Joel, Mr Benjamin Obeng Antwi clarified that their company does not engage in the sale of meters to customers. Instead, the payments made by customers are solely for service fees.
“ECG doesn’t sell meters at any of our offices what happens is that you apply for our service and you are only required to pay for the service you have applied for from our office so there is nothing like the sale of meters at ECG
He added that ECG meters are the property of Ghana and pass through some processes before being released to us to be given out.
“I want to emphatically state this that all meters belong to ECG, not our customers… That is why when you check the meters, it is written on it as the property of the Electricity Company of Ghana.
He assured that ECG is working around the clock putting measures in place to help curb the situation of unauthorized sale of meters from people.
He however called on the general public to desist from engaging in illegal activities as it tends to make their work harder and causes losses to the company.
