“We don’t need unity in the music industry!” — M.anifest declares
Award-winning Ghanaian rapper M.anifest has stirred conversations across the entertainment industry after boldly stating that the music and creative space does not need “unity,” as many people often claim.
Instead, the rapper believes the industry would benefit more from cooperation, ethical conduct, professionalism, and smart business practices than from what he described as a misleading call for unity.
The thought-provoking statement, shared on X on June 3, 2026, has since generated debate among musicians, creatives, and fans across social media.
He wrote, “We DON’T need unity in our music/creative scene. Unity is a MYTH and a banner often waved by selfish people when they want everyone to rally behind them.”
According to “The God MC,” the entertainment industry should focus less on slogans and more on practical systems that improve creativity and business growth.
M.anifest argued that meaningful progress in the creative sector depends on professionalism, quality control, ethical behaviour, and industry knowledge rather than symbolic displays of togetherness.
“What we need is cooperation, a modicum of ethical behaviour, quality control, ball knowledge, as well as the application of best practices creatively and in business,” he added.
His comments have resonated with some industry observers who believe the creative space thrives more on strategic collaboration than on emotional appeals for unity.
M.anifest’s comments appear to challenge the traditional idea that everyone in the industry must always move as one. Instead, his position suggests that creatives can still thrive through mutual respect, strategic partnerships, and ethical business conduct without necessarily forcing a sense of “unity.”
The rapper’s remarks have opened up a wider conversation about what the Ghanaian creative industry truly needs in order to grow sustainably on the global stage.
While some disagree with his view that unity is a myth, others believe his comments highlight an uncomfortable reality within the entertainment business.
As debates continue online, one thing remains clear — M.anifest has once again sparked a necessary conversation about the future of the creative industry.
