The people of Grumesa in the Akrofoum District of Ashanti are facing serious water crisis.
Over 2,000 residents have no other choice but to drink from a contaminated stream.
Speaking to Oyerepa News, some residents of the community expressed that, they fear they might contract waterborne diseases from filthy water.
They said the only borehole that is available is not enough to serve the entire community, thereby forcing some of them to go for dirty water from the nearby stream to drink.
Assembly Member for the Grumesa Electoral Area, Shakibu Mustapha said, access to quality water is a major challenge in the Grumesa township and plans are far ahead to give the community a new Pipe born water.He will ensure that all broken boreholes are fixed.
“We are working to resolve Grumesa water crisis” he assured.
The Odikro of the town Nana Baffour Akoto uncovered that, for the past five months access to potable drinking water has been a dilemma for the entire Grumesa community
“For the past 5 months, getting portable drinking water has been a problem for us” Nana Akoto stated told Oyerepa Midday News.
