The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has assured stakeholders has said that it is prepared to conduct the 2024 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) as scheduled, despite the government’s outstanding debts.
The examination will take place from July 8 to July 15, 2024, across all examination centers in the country.
According to John Kapi, Head of Public Affairs at WAEC, the government has paid GH55.8 million of the total amount owed, which is sufficient to conduct the examination. WAEC has begun dispatching staff to examination centers to set up depots and organize the examination.
A total of 569,095 candidates from 19,505 schools will participate in the 2024 BECE. WAEC has assured the public that necessary preparations have been made to ensure a smooth and successful examination.
