Former Constituency Chairman of Formena has described Mr. Bernard Antwi Bosiako aka Wontumi, NPP Ashanti Regional Chairman as “pre-mature” individual who does not have the knowledge to bring people together to win elections for their party in the region.
“Wontumi has exhausted all his ideas. He must go home. He has no more knowledge to help the party”, Former Constituency Chairman for Formena Constituency in the Ashanti Region Akwasi Nti Asamoah said this at the just ended NPP National Delegate Conference held in Kumasi over the weekend.
Mr. Akwasi Nti’s, the former chief of staff of Wontumi comments comes with effect to the issue of whether the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the region must keep their current Regional Chairman Bernard Antwi Bosiako or kick him out.
In past months after the 2020 general elections, some gurus of the NPP in the region have campaigned massively against Mr. Antwi Bosiako popularly known as Chairman Wontumi to step down from his position making a series of accusations against him.
Former NPP MP for Bantama Constituency Daniel Okyem Aboagye has said the same. He argued that the current political dispensation in the region requires a new personality to create an enabling environment and strategy for election 2024.
Meanwhile, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) is now seeking to stay in power for a third term which they describe as “breaking the eight”.
The Vice President Dr. Bawomia in a speech at their National Delegates Conference yesterday told his party members, “I believe if we’re united we shall break the eight. Our success will depend on how we conduct ourselves. We must not take down each other, but rather the NDC whose return will be a disaster for Ghana.”
But at the same event where Dr Bawumia made his statement, Mr. Akwasi Nti on the other hand insisted that the party’s chairman in the region do not have the capacity to unite members not to talk about breaking the eight.
“He (Chairman Wontumi) can’t go to national; he has been the Regional Chairman. He must step down. He has exhausted all his ideas. He must go home. He has no more knowledge to help the party. If we don’t take care, there is going to be divisions in the party because of him”. Mr. Akwasi Nti said adding that, “that guy is pre-mature”.
He further continued his argument saying the party now needs someone who can unite them.
“Whether the person will come from the camp of Bawumia or Alan Kyeremanteng or whoever, all we need is someone who can unify the party”, he adds.
