The Member of Parliament for Abuakwa South, Dr. Kingsley Agyeman, has raised concerns over an abandoned road project in his constituency, calling on the government to take urgent action.
Speaking on the floor of Parliament, Dr. Agyeman questioned the Roads and Highways Minister, Hon. Kwame Agbodza, about the government’s plans to address the stalled project.
He emphasized the need for immediate intervention, stating that the poor road conditions were severely affecting residents.
Dr. Agyeman warned that the dusty environment, caused by the incomplete resurfacing of roads, posed serious health risks to the people of Abuakwa South, particularly increasing the chances of upper respiratory disorders.
“As you may be aware, the multimobility index in Ghana has increased tremendously, and one of the key factors has to do with upper respiratory issues. I am seeking your kind attention because this road resurfacing means that the top surface of the road has been scraped, resulting in a lot of dust in the area. I urge you to keep a close eye on these roads for the people of Abuakwa South,” he stated.
In response, Minister Kwame Agbodza acknowledged the concerns raised by the MP and provided explanations for the delays in completing the road project.
While he did not specify a timeline for its completion, he assured that the government remains committed to improving road infrastructure across the country, including in Abuakwa South.
