A woman identified as Akosua Atta, popularly known as Anti Atta, has been tragically murdered by an unknown assailant at Abompekrom in the Obuasi West Municipality of the Ashanti Region.
The incident occurred on Sunday evening, during a power outage in the town.
According to Frederick Addo, Assemblyman for the Abompekrom Electoral Area, residents heard distress calls coming from the victim’s home. Upon rushing to the scene, they discovered her in a pool of blood in her kitchen, having sustained severe injuries.
She was immediately transported to the AngloGold Ashanti (AGA) Hospital, but sadly, she was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
Speaking to the media, the victim’s daughter—identified only as Sister—expressed shock and heartbreak over the loss, struggling to understand why anyone would target her mother.
The body has since been deposited at the morgue for autopsy.
Meanwhile, the Obuasi Divisional Police Command has launched an investigation to uncover the circumstances surrounding the killing and bring the perpetrator to justice.
