UG suspends academic activities over severe Accra flooding
The University of Ghana has suspended lectures and directed students to remain indoors following heavy rainfall that has caused flooding in several parts of Accra.
In an emergency notice issued on Monday, June 29, the university advised students to stay in their current locations, including halls of residence, homes or wherever they find themselves, until weather conditions improve.
It cautioned students against attempting to commute to campus, warning that flooding had made travel unsafe.
“Stay indoors wherever you are now; in your hall, at home or current location. Do not attempt to come for lectures or travel until the rains and flooding subside,” the notice stated.
The university further announced the suspension of all lectures until the situation becomes safe for academic activities to resume.
Signed by the Director of the Academic Affairs Directorate (AAD), the statement urged students to prioritise their safety as authorities continue to monitor the impact of the severe weather across the capital.
It ended with a brief safety reminder: “KEEP SAFE!”
