Two killed, two injured after clash between Police and Residents in Sefwi Sayerano

Two people have reportedly been killed and two others injured following a confrontation between police officers and residents of Sefwi Sayerano in the Western North Region.

The incident reportedly occurred when officers from the Sefwi Wiawso Divisional Police Command attempted to arrest a suspected drug peddler in the community.

According to a report by TV3 on July 7, 2026, some residents allegedly resisted the arrest, leading to a confrontation between the crowd and the police.

During the clash, the officers reportedly discharged firearms, resulting in multiple casualties.

One resident, reacting to the incident, accused the police of using excessive force and criticised their conduct.

“The police did not do the right thing to us. From today onwards, we do not want the presence of the police in our community,” the resident said.

Reports indicate that two people died during the incident, while two others sustained gunshot wounds and fractures.

The injured victims were reportedly taken to a nearby health facility for medical treatment.

The Ghana Police Service has not yet issued an official statement on the incident.

Investigations are expected to establish the circumstances surrounding the confrontation and the reported deaths.
