Two drown, including six-year-old girl, at Gomoa Nyanyano seaside
Two people, including a six-year-old girl, have reportedly drowned in separate incidents at the seaside at Gomoa Nyanyano in the Gomoa East District of the Central Region.
According to information gathered by Nana Ansah Matthew, the first incident involved a man believed to be in his late 50s, who reportedly drowned after visiting the seaside with his grandson.
The man is said to have gone to the beach to perform a spiritual directive allegedly given to him by his pastor.
In a separate incident, a six-year-old girl reportedly drowned after she went to the seaside with two other children to dispose of refuse.
After dumping the refuse, the girl is said to have removed her dress and entered the sea to swim but did not return.
Efforts to locate and retrieve her body have so far been unsuccessful.
Traditional rites have reportedly been performed as part of efforts to aid in the recovery of the girl’s body, while attempts to locate her continue.
The two incidents have reportedly raised concerns among residents about the dangers posed by swimming in the sea, particularly in the absence of proper supervision.
