A team of police officers from the National Highway Police Patrol has arrested two suspects found in possession of a consignment believed to be human blood without proper authorization.
The suspects, identified as 34-year-old teacher Winnie Agbofoatsi Kwesi and 38-year-old contractor Morgan Martins, were apprehended at Dzrakate, a community near Akatsi on the Accra-Aflao highway.
They have been charged with the unlawful possession of human parts/blood, in violation of Section 69B of the Criminal Offences (Amendment) Act, 2012 (Act 29/60).
According to sources from the Ghana News Agency (GNA), the arrest took place on Sunday, February 9, at approximately 12:00 PM when a patrol team intercepted a Toyota Corolla with registration number GW 2837-19 traveling from Accra towards Aflao.
Upon searching the vehicle, officers discovered three plastic containers containing suspected human blood, with the contact number of Winnie Agbofoatsi written on the contents.
During interrogation, the driver admitted that he had received the items in Tema and was instructed to deliver them to Agbofoatsi at Agbozume.
