Mr Dennis Sarkodie Owusu, a communication lecturer at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has predicted that three Members of Parliament (MPs) on the ticket of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Ashanti Region are likely to loose their seat due to the various skirmishes in the party’s internal elections.
Series of brutalities have been recorded in Ejisu, Manhyia North, and Kwadaso among other constituencies in the Ashanti Region regarding the NPP constituency executive and polling station elections. Some MPs and constituency Chairmen have been accused of allegedly manipulating the polls in their favour.
Sarkodie believes that, said leaders are skimming the polls to maintain their positions hence the various rumpus in the NPP constituency executive elections.
“The allegation is that some leaders are skimming to maintain their positions prior to the 2024 polls, hence the various brouhaha in the NPP constituency elections,” Sarkodie stated on Oyerepa Breakfast Time, Thursday, April 28, 2022.
He added that the MPs in those constituencies, specifically, Ejisu (John Kumah), Kwadaso(Kingsley Nyarko) Manhyia North (Akwasi Konadu) will not have the chance to maintain their seat if the numerous violence in their jurisdictions is not resolved.
“I can state it point-blank that, places like Ejisu (John Kumah), Kwadaso, (Kingsley Nyarko) Manhyia North (Akwasi Konadu) are likely to be one term MPs.
I’m telling you on your big platform that, if John Kumah, Kingsley Nyarko and Akwasi Konadu don’t take care, they’ll be one term MPs. But should they improve upon their work, they will enjoy another term of office.” The KNUST lecturer told, Akua Asieduwaa, host of OBT.
