Ghanaian gospel musician Christiana Adwoa Twene, popularly known as Obaapa Christy, has shared her thoughts on the changing attitudes of some people towards makeup, arguing that many who once opposed the practice have now embraced it.

The gospel singer said people should be careful about condemning choices or lifestyles they have not personally experienced, as circumstances can sometimes change their understanding and perspective.

According to Obaapa Christy, the criticism that once surrounded women who used makeup has gradually reduced because some former critics have eventually adopted the same practice they spoke against.

“Those who used to criticise it are now doing it themselves. You shouldn’t judge a place or situation you have never experienced because when you get there, you may understand why certain things are done that way. Many people condemned it before because they didn’t fully understand it, but now that they are in the same position, how can they continue to criticise it?” she said.

Her comments come amid long-standing discussions within some religious circles about appearance, fashion and the use of cosmetics, with different individuals holding varying opinions on whether makeup aligns with Christian values.

Obaapa Christy, known for her influential role in Ghana’s gospel music industry, urged people to show understanding and avoid making conclusions about issues based only on assumptions.

She maintained that personal experiences can change perspectives, stressing the need for tolerance and a willingness to understand situations before passing judgment.
