Mr Aaron Kumah, a senior lecturer at Akenten Appiah-Menka University of Skills Training and Entrepreneurial Development (AMUSTED), says there might be something wrong at the finance ministry, which is why Akufo-Addo has refused to sack Ken Ofori Atta.
The majority caucus on Tuesday, October 25, petitioned President Akufo-Addo to remove the finance minister, Ken Ofori Atta.
Speaking on Oyerepa Breakfast Time, the lecturer disclosed that the NPP MPs first informed the President to talk to Ken Ofori Atta.
“The majority of MPs had spoken to Akuffo-Addo in the closet to relieve Ofori Atta of his duties but turned a deaf ear to it, hence their open declaration wanting the dismissal of the finance minister. I (Kumah) believe Ofori Atta’s dismissal should have happened right when the IMF became the last resort to revive our economy after Ofori Atta openly declared the country was no longer going to borrow from the IMF”. He said.
“Akuffo Addo has lost guard and destroyed his power as the President because he’ll start to second guess whatever decision he will make since his MPs are not supporting his decision on refusing to dismiss the finance minister.” He fumed.
