A principal regulatory officer at the Food and Drug Authority, Zeinab Serwaa Acheampong, has said there are licensed herbal drugs on the health market that are even prescribed by doctors for the treatment of some diseases.
Speaking to Akua Asieduwaa on Oyerepa Breakfast Time, she added that the sole aim of the FDA is to protect the public from items that may cause harm when taken into the body or used by the public.
As a result, such herbal drugs have gone through all processes, are safe for public consumption, and effectively treat diseases.
Zeinab Acheampong also urged all herbal drug manufacturers to ignore rumors that the FDA does not give certification to herbal drugs and present their products to go through certification processes.
