Renowned gospel musician and pastor Sonnie Badu has joined millions of Ghanaians in offering prayers, encouragement, and goodwill to the Black Stars as Ghana prepares for its fifth appearance at the FIFA World Cup in 2026.

In a heartfelt message shared on his Facebook page on June 1, 2026, Badu extended his best wishes to the national team as they prepare to represent the nation in North America. He urged the players to embrace the opportunity before them and carry the hopes of Ghanaians with pride and determination.

“Dear Black Stars, I wish you all the best as you embark on this incredible opportunity to prove your worth. Remember, football is Ghana’s pride, and the world is watching. Please, don’t let us down. May God be with you all,” he wrote.

His message comes in the wake of the official announcement of Ghana’s final squad for the tournament. Head coach Carlos Queiroz has named a 26-man team tasked with carrying the nation’s ambitions on the global stage.

Leading the squad is captain Jordan Ayew, who will be joined by several key figures, including Thomas Partey, Antoine Semenyo, Kamaldeen Sulemana, and Iñaki Williams. The squad selection, however, also signals the absence of former captain Dede Ayew and forward Mohammed Kudus, two notable names who will not be part of Ghana’s World Cup campaign.

The Black Stars will begin their journey on June 17 in Toronto against Panama before taking on former world champions England in Foxborough, Massachusetts, on June 23. They will conclude their Group Stage fixtures against Croatia in Philadelphia on June 27.
