Renowned Kumawood actor, Kwaku Manu, has shed light on the rapid decline of the Kumasi Movie Industry, commonly known as Kumawood. In his insightful analysis, the actor emphasizes that the industry’s downfall can be attributed to the ineffective and obsolete regulations governing it.
Manu asserts that the current laws governing Kumawood are no longer functional, rendering them useless in addressing the industry’s challenges. This lack of efficacy has resulted in a stagnation of progress and a subsequent decline in the industry’s overall performance.
Furthermore, the actor criticizes the industry’s leaders for their negligence and failure to fulfil their responsibilities.
“The laws in Kumawood aren’t working. The leaders are sleeping on their work….. Every entity needs laws to make it successful. If there are no laws industry players will do whatever they like,” Kwaku Manu told MFK on Oyerepa Entertainment Review.
He further revealed that the laws governing Ghana’s Creative Arts Agency are ineffective and require immediate attention and resolution.
According to him, despite being the smallest sector, the minister responsible for overseeing the Creative Arts Industry is inept and lacks competence in his role. The ministry’s management is notably deficient and lacks proper administration.
“The laws in Creative Art and Ghana as a whole are not working.”
“When it comes to poor management, the Creative Arts Agency leads. The minister isn’t working despite his ministry being the smallest.” Kwaku Manu posited.
He further disclosed that “no minister has ever engaged us (Kumawood actors) and actresses to listen to our concerns.”
