“TGMA 2026 snub hurts me deeply” — Sista Afia cries

Ghanaian  Afrobeats singer, Francisca Gawugah, popularly known as Sista Afia, has expressed disappointment over being snubbed at the 27th edition of the Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA) 2026 despite submitting several songs for nomination.

In an interview, the celebrated songstress revealed that she feels there may be sabotage against her because she does not understand why her hit song, “Asuoden,” failed to secure a nomination at TGMA 2026. According to her, the snub still hurts deeply.

She said, “The reason I said that was because of ‘Asuoden.’ Till now, ‘Asuoden’ still pains me. That’s where I felt there was some sabotage going on against me. I got nominated for ‘Weather’ sometime, so I expected ‘Asuoden’ to also receive recognition because it was even bigger. I released it, and within two weeks, it blew up across the airwaves. But when the nominations came out, ‘Asuoden’ was nowhere to be found. That made things clear to me.”

Sista Afia disclosed that she submitted songs in more than eight categories, yet none of them received nominations.

“I submitted a lot of songs under many categories — more than eight categories. It hurts me so much,” she added.

The singer further explained that the experience left her hurt and disappointed to the extent that she began questioning herself and wondering what she had done wrong to deserve such snubs.

“I kept asking myself questions like, ‘What did I do wrong? Am I supposed to do other things?’” she quizzed.

However, Sista Afia insisted that the alleged sabotage would never push her into compromising herself for recognition or awards. She maintained that she would continue working hard and trusting in God.

“I am not the type of person who will come and kiss anyone’s ass. I’m never going to do that. I’m simply doing what God has given me,” she stated.
