Mrs. Elizabeth Ofosu Adjare, the esteemed Member of Parliament for the Techiman North Constituency, is fervently advocating for the redirection of the COVID-19 levy towards bolstering the health sector’s financing.
This strategic move aims to enhance Ghana’s ability to effectively respond to health emergencies.
During her address at the momentous launch of the Financing Immunization Advocacy Response (Fair) Project, organized by the reputable organization Hope of Future Generation in Accra, Mrs Ofosu Adjare emphasized the need for the government to prioritize the health sector.
She underscored the necessity of reducing our reliance on foreign aid during times of crisis.
“Currently, we have a COVID-19 levy, and I have suggested that we are quite confident that COVID is behind us for the most part, let’s re-designate this levy to improve our health care delivery.”
The Executive Director of the Hope For Future Generation, Madam Cecilia Senoo on the other hand opined that healthcare delivery in the country has taken a nose dive and there is a need for for government to inject more capital into the health sector.
According to her, the project focuses on advocating to ensure that the government allocate co-financing available to partners to ensure that Immunisation is treated as the top priority in healthcare matters.
