Tarkwa Assembly Member arrested for alleged galamsey and road diversion
The Western Central Regional Police Command has arrested the Assembly Member for the Tarkwa Bremang Electoral Area, Isaac Duku—popularly known as Agoogi—for his alleged involvement in illegal mining activities and the unlawful diversion of a public road for personal gain.
In a statement issued by the police, Mr. Duku was taken into custody on July 19, 2025, at Dortaso near Tarkwa, following a formal complaint filed by concerned residents.
The complaint, lodged at the Bawdie Police Station on July 14, accused Mr. Duku of illegally rerouting the main access road serving the local community onto his private land—without obtaining any legal authorization.
Subsequent police investigations revealed that the diverted road was being used to facilitate illegal mining operations, allegedly led by Mr. Duku.
He is currently in police custody, assisting with ongoing investigations.
