Suspected homosexual partners have been apprehended by the Sefwi Asawinso Traditional Council in collaboration with the police.
Two individuals, believed to be in their thirties, were apprehended in the early hours of Monday, around 1:00 AM, for allegedly engaging in homosexual activities.
According to Nana Ama Kyinyie II, the Queen Mother (Hemaa) of Sefwi Asawinso, the main suspect, Kwabena Emmanuel, who works as a tailor, had invited his partner, Kwasi Nicholas, from Nyinayini, the capital of the Atwima Mponua district in the Ashanti Region, to partake in this abominable act.
The Asanwinsohemaa revealed that suspicions had long surrounded Emmanuel’s involvement in homosexuality, but he had managed to evade capture. However, on Monday morning, he was caught red-handed engaging in the act inside his landlord’s son’s room.
During the investigation, used and unused condoms, as well as aphrodisiacs, were discovered in the room.
Upon interrogation, the suspects admitted to engaging in some form of homosexual activity.
Consequently, they were arrested and handed over to the Sefwi Asawinso police for further investigation.
Nana Ama Kyinyie II also disclosed that Michael Owusu, popularly known as Gunjan, who had participated in Adom TV Adepam season 3, had been arrested the previous year for engaging in a similar act in Sefwi Kanchiabo.
Furthermore, the Asanwinsohemaa revealed that the community’s chiefs and elders have planned to banish the suspected homosexuals from Sefwi Asawinso.
