The Chief Executive Officer of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly, Samuel Pyne, has called for support and assistance for public schools in the country to function effectively.
The mayor made this call at the Subin Inter Schools Quiz, where T.I. Ahmadya Junior High School B emerged as the winner.
Speaking to Oyerepa News, the mayor expressed satisfaction with the outcome of the quiz and urged parents and other stakeholders to support the public schools.
“All the time, we have the perception that those in private schools are the best students, but those in public schools have well-trained teachers. The outcome of the quiz has proven to me that when we provide support in terms of infrastructure and teacher orientation, the perception of public schools will change.” The mayor asserted.
“The way the students answered the questions and their output shows me that the public schools are not far behind. It is about time parents and all stakeholder groups came together and supported the public school to function well like the previous year. Some of us are beneficiaries of public schools. I have never attended a private school in my life. I believe when we come together to support the public, it will prosper,” he added.
The mayor emphasized that the event was part of the Assembly’s plans to improve education in the metropolis.
