The Principal of Se-Manhyia Royal International School in Kumasi, Mr. Joe Koranteng, has called upon the government to provide support to various private schools in order to enhance the quality of education in Ghana.
During his speech at the 2023 Se-Manhyia Royal International School Graduation Ceremony in Kumasi on Thursday, September 21, 2023, Mr. Koranteng emphasized that many private schools face challenges in adequately training their teachers to match the standards set by public schools.
Additionally, these schools lack the necessary teaching and learning materials for both teachers and students. Therefore, it would be appropriate for the government to extend the same level of support it provides to public schools to private educational institutions.
“I want the government to share part of the things it gives public schools to private educational institutions. Also, the government should help us train our teachers so as to reach the standard of public schools in order to raise the level of Ghana’s education.” The Principal said.
The school director, Mr. Semanhyia Arhin, recognized and rewarded several members of the teaching and non-teaching staff for their exceptional work.
Following a staff poll, Felix Amoabeng was named the Best Worker (Best Teacher) and received a brand new Matiz saloon car, along with GHc 3,000. Madam Belinda Brobbey, the first runner-up, was granted a well-deserved holiday in Dubai.
In addition, eight other teachers were honoured with various prizes, including washing machines, blenders, TV sets, and fridges.
The recipients of these awards expressed their deep gratitude to the school director for his tremendous support and motivation.
Belinda Brobbey, the first runner-up, offered valuable advice to her fellow teachers in both private and public schools, urging them to work tirelessly for the betterment of their respective institutions. By doing so, they too may be rewarded in the future.
