A Board Member of Accra Hearts of Oak, Alhaji Braimah Akambi, has added his voice to the numerous calls by supporters of Asante Kotoko for the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to ban referee Selorm Yao Bless.
The irate Asante Kotoko fans have demanded the referee be severely punished for intentionally ignoring all the penalty calls which ought to have gone the way of Asante Kotoko.
Speaking on Oyerepa FM’s Today’s Sports with Sometimer Otuo Acheampong, the board member applauded the confidence of the refree and rated his performance on the day at 85%.
“Out of hundred, if I am to rate the performance of the referee, I will give him 85%. The referee was very fair and firm. As a referee, sometimes you need to balance the game, not to muddy the beauty of the game.
“A gentleman in a Kotoko replica jersey who sat closer to me consistently spewed comments that suggested he would enter the pitch to stop the game if the referee awarded any penalty against Asante Kotoko.” Alhaji Akambi stated.
This comment by the board member comes after some disappointed fans called for the head of the referee, Serlom Yao Bless, after several calls came for penalties to be awarded to Asante Kotoko in the super clash against Hearts of Oak last Sunday.
