The Mayor of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA), Richard Ofori Agyemang Boadi, popularly known as King Zuba, has accused the Member of Parliament (MP) for Subin, Kofi Obiri Yeboah, of withholding relief items donated by former Assin Central MP Kennedy Ohene Agyapong to victims of the Adum-Blue Light fire disaster.
The donation—comprising GH¢100,000 in cash and 200 street bulbs—was made following a devastating fire that swept through parts of the Adum business enclave on March 24, 2024. The inferno destroyed several shops and properties, with losses running into millions of Ghana cedis.
Speaking on the Oyerepa Breakfast Show, the KMA boss claimed that the 200 street bulbs are still in the possession of the Subin MP.
“The regional minister asked me to accompany Kennedy Agyapong to the Blue Light fire scene because we felt he acted appropriately. He is the only one who sought permission from the regional minister before coming. When he arrived, he first visited the regional minister and was properly briefed,” King Zuba stated.
He explained that due to his then-pending assumption of office, Agyapong handed the items to the Subin MP with the understanding that they would be relayed to the Assembly for distribution.
“I was there, and Kennedy Agyapong said that because the MP is a member of the assembly and I had not assumed office yet, he would give the items to the MP. I thought that after the MP received them, he would deliver them to the assembly, but now he is still keeping them,” the Mayor revealed.
