The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), for Suame in the Ashanti Region, Mr Maxwell Ofosu Boakye, has revealed his plans and ambitions towards the development of Suame Magazine to an ultra-modern automobile shopping and repairs center.
The move according to him will create enough space for the stakeholders and traders to operate.
Speaking on Oyerepa Breakfast Time, Wednesday chaired by Bismark Brown, Mr Maxwell Ofosu Boakye said the Kumasi- Suame Magazine, a notable automobile trading center in Ghana and Africa as a whole fetches a lot of revenue for the country therefore there is the need to develop it to an international standardized market to be able to generate more revenue. He said the Suame Municipal Assembly (SMA) in conjunction with a private contractor will begin the project in no time.
“SMA in collaboration with a private contractor has decided to renovate the structures at Suame Magazine to stores. We will build ultramodern stores which will help these trades to work in an organized and serene environment.”
He stressed that; after completion, the assembly will spread out a payment plan in order for traders to acquire the facility.
“The payment term will be spread out so that every trader at Suame Magazine can acquire one store.” Mr Boakye declared.
However, the MCE expressed concern about the revenue structure of the Municipal Assembly.
He said revenue mobilastion at the assembly is very poor therefore the assembly has decided to set up a strong monetary system to monitor affairs of all taxes in the municipal.
“The revenue system in Suame Municipal Assembly is very bad. However, the assembly has decided to set up a strong monetary mechanism that will see to it that revenues collected will reach the assembly directly. I, therefore, urge everyone to play his or her role carefully”. The MCE added.
